VTM Global Trade Management — by Valtriom
The operating platform for international trade and free zones, built on enterprise ERP technology.
39 specialized modules to manage international trade; with 20 modules already built in the current repository for the operating core, CRM, operations, products, sales, purchasing, shipments, containers, BL, documents, customs, compliance, finance, warehouse, free zone, dashboard, control tower, Panama/ZLC localization and AIS tracking; plus a roadmap for AI, connectors and regional expansion — all in a single enterprise platform, available in the cloud within VTM Cloud.
Génesis, Valtriom's AI
Ask about your foreign trade operation.
Génesis knows this platform module by module. Tell it how your company works —what you move, where the goods come in, whether you operate in a free zone— and it tells you which modules you need and what your implementation would look like.
- I run a warehouse in the Colon Free Zone. What do I need?
- How are BLs, containers and shipments recorded?
- Does it connect with my customs broker and with the DGI?
- How long does implementation take and what gets done first?
It answers on the spot. If you'd rather talk to a person, it hands you over to the team.
The problem
Companies that move millions in international trade still run on Excel, WhatsApp and scattered emails.
International trade and free zone operations are complex by nature: multiple countries of origin, international suppliers, changing regulations, critical documents, precision logistics and customers who demand real-time visibility of their cargo.
Without a centralized system, costs get lost across spreadsheets, documents arrive late, the real margin on each shipment is unknown and management operates blind. Mistakes cost money, reputation and customers.
A generic ERP isn't enough. International trade needs a platform that understands the operating reality of the Free Zone: containers, BLs, DMCE, free zone costs, value-added services and traceability per operation.
The solution
VTM Global Trade Management turns a fragmented operation into a controlled, measurable and traceable commercial chain.
Developed by Valtriom on Enterprise ERP technology, it is a vertical platform built specifically for free zone and international trade companies. It isn't an adapted ERP. It's a platform designed from scratch for this operation, with 39 specialized modules organized in four layers: operating core, regional localizations, external connectors and artificial intelligence.
Layer 1: Operating core
20 modules already built within an architecture of 39 capabilities for international trade.
International Logistics CRM
A sales pipeline adapted to trade: opportunities by route, estimated volume, product category and origin. Follow-up from prospect to active operation.
Operation File
The platform's central object. Every operation has its master file with supplier, customer, products, documents, costs, shipments and real-time status.
Product Repository
Master catalog of international trade products with tariff codes, international units of measure, preferred suppliers and price history.
Trade Sales and Purchasing
International sales and purchase orders with support for incoterms, multiple currencies, international payment terms and direct linking to the operation file.
Cost Sheet (FOB → Landed)
Cost structure from FOB price to real landed cost: international freight, storage, paperwork, duties, free zone value-added services and unexpected adjustments.
Shipment Tracking
Cargo tracking by shipment, container or AWB. Logistics milestones, critical dates, ETAs and operating status from the factory to the final destination.
Container Management
Control of FCL and LCL containers: seal number, type, shipping line, availability date, return, and demurrage and detention costs.
Bill of Lading / AWB
Recording and control of the BL or AWB per shipment: number, shipping line, issue date, type (OBL / Seaway Bill), endorsements and link to the operation file.
Document Management
Generation and control of commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, customs documents and specific requirements by route or destination.
Customs and Compliance
Customs declarations, regimes by destination, tariff code control, regulatory control lists and compliance with international trade rules.
Free Zone and Value-Added Services
Free zones managed as an operating entity: inventory by zone, value-added operations (labeling, relabeling, repackaging), daily storage cost and special regimes.
Customer Portal
Customers check orders, review the status of their shipments, download documents and communicate with the operations team from a secure portal that carries your own brand.
Control Tower
A 360° executive view of all active operations: alerts, bottlenecks, shipments in transit, pending documents and operating KPIs in real time.
Trade Finance and Treasury
Trade-specific financial control: letters of credit, payments to international suppliers, customer collections, multi-currency reconciliation and profitability analysis per operation.
Warehouse and Consolidation
Receiving, picking, packing, cross-docking and cargo consolidation. Location management per free zone warehouse with real-time inventory control.
Quality and Claims
Quality inspections at receiving, post-delivery claims logging, communication with international suppliers and resolution follow-up.
Layer 4: Artificial Intelligence
5 AI modules designed specifically for international trade.
The platform doesn't just manage; it also learns, predicts and automates.
Conversational Trade Assistant
Check the status of operations, pending documents, accumulated costs or the status of a container in natural language, right inside the platform. The assistant has full context on every file.
Document OCR (BLs, Invoices, Certificates)
Upload a Bill of Lading, commercial invoice or certificate of origin and the AI automatically extracts the structured data —BL number, tariff lines, weights, values, dates— and enters it into the corresponding file.
ETA Prediction
A predictive model for arrival dates based on route history, shipping lines, seasons and current logistics conditions. It reduces operating uncertainty and improves what you promise the customer.
Predictive Risk Analysis
Automatic scoring per operation based on supplier history, route, type of goods, regulation and the customer's payment behavior. It detects high-risk operations before they become a problem.
Core AI Engine
Shared LLM and embeddings infrastructure across all AI modules. It gives the artificial intelligence each client's own business context within their instance on VTM Cloud.
Layer 3: External connectors
6 connectors that bring the outside world into the platform.
Vessel, shipping line, exchange rate and customs data flows in real time. No exporting to Excel, no manual entry.
Real-Time Vessel Tracking
AIS connector built for MarineTraffic, VesselFinder and Datalastic; it records vessel positions, history and operating updates on shipments.
Shipping Lines and Airlines
Connection to shipping line and airline APIs to check rates, space availability, reservations and booking confirmation.
Real-Time Exchange Rates
Exchange rates updated automatically for cost calculations, multi-currency invoicing and exchange rate variance analysis per operation.
Customs Systems
Connection to local customs systems to look up and transmit declarations, verify tariff codes and check the status of procedures.
DHL · FedEx · UPS
Tracking of international courier shipments, waybill generation and automatic status updates in the operation file.
External Connectors Base
Base integration infrastructure for any external API. It lets you add new connectors without modifying the platform core.
Operating flow
From the first sales contact to the financial close, all in one system.
01
CRM and Order
The prospect enters the logistics CRM, becomes an opportunity and then an operation file. Products, customer, supplier, origin, destination and incoterms are recorded from the very first moment.
02
Purchasing and Origin
International purchase order, factory follow-up, production times, FOB cost sheet and coordination of the initial documents for shipment.
03
Logistics and Free Zone
Real-time shipment tracking, BLs, containers, free zone warehousing, consolidation, value-added services, customs documentation and automatic notifications to the customer.
04
Close and Profitability
Real vs. quoted cost comparison, net margin calculation per operation, invoicing, profitability analysis by customer and route, and full financial close.
Layer 2: Regional localizations
Local regulations from 6 countries, built into the platform.
Each localization includes each country's customs forms, taxes, regimes and connections with its regulatory agencies.

VTM GTM vs SAP Global Trade Services
A vertical specialized in the Free Zone and trade operations, compared against the enterprise standard, SAP GTS.
SAP GTS is a global benchmark for compliance, customs and regulatory control. VTM Global Trade doesn't try to copy its corporate heft: it competes with a more focused, modular and operational offering for companies that need international trade, free zone, logistics, documents, costs and visibility on a modern ERP foundation.
| Capability | VTM Global Trade | SAP GTS / SAP GTM | Practical advantage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Architecture | 39 specialized modules, with 20 modules already built on Enterprise ERP technology. | SAP enterprise suite for compliance, customs and global trade, usually integrated into the SAP ecosystem. | VTM is lighter, more modular and easier to control for companies that don't want a full SAP implementation. |
| Free zone / ZLC Panama | Panama/ZLC localization available: DMCE, zones, regimes, operators, rates, certificates and SIGA transactions. | Strong in global customs, but ZLC-specific localization requires a project, configuration and local integration. | VTM was born from the reality of Panama and the Free Zone; not as an after-the-fact adaptation. |
| Master operation file | Available: a central operation connected with CRM, sales, purchasing, inventory, invoicing, documents and shipments. | Manages commercial and regulatory processes within the SAP architecture, but not necessarily as a lightweight operating file for the ZLC. | VTM offers direct operational traceability for sales, logistics and finance teams. |
| Customs and compliance | Available: declarations, regimes, procedures, licenses, requirements, checklists, regulatory rules, sanctions, restricted parties and evidence. | Very strong: compliance automation, customs management, screening, licenses, import/export declarations and regulatory control. | SAP keeps the global enterprise edge; VTM covers the necessary core with an ERP/ZLC focus. |
| Product, HS code and rules by country | Available: product repository, HS mappings, certifications, manufacturers, document rules, regulations and rules by country. | Classification, legal control, document management and wide-reaching compliance master data. | VTM brings that logic closer to the operating user without SAP's complexity. |
| FOB → Landed costing | Available: cost sheet, cost types, allocations and margin rules connected with purchasing, sales, accounting and landed costs. | SAP can cover advanced costing through integration with finance, procurement, logistics and controlling. | VTM makes it a visible part of the trade file, not just accounting logic. |
| Logistics, shipments and BLs | Available: sea/air/courier shipments, booking, carriers, CFS, transshipments, costs, events, vessels, BLs, versions and amendments. | Can be integrated with SAP TM/GTS and other components for logistics, transportation and documentation. | VTM concentrates the trade operation in its own vertical, ready to extend. |
| Containers | Available: containers, seals, lines, damage, events, charges, demurrage/detention and container types. | Usually depends on integration with transportation, logistics or specific developments. | VTM handles container control as an operating entity in its own right. |
| Warehouse, consolidation and FTZ | Available: trade warehouse, locations, zones, storage cost, putaway, picking, packing, stuffing, destuffing, cross-dock, consolidation, FTZ, transfers and value-added services. | SAP covers warehousing/logistics with specialized components, usually in larger-scale projects. | VTM integrates the free zone operation with centralized inventory and document control. |
| Trade finance | Available: letters of credit, discrepancies, financing, factoring, cash flow, bank charges, payment schedules, financial events and margin snapshots. | SAP has great financial and controlling strength within S/4HANA. | SAP keeps the corporate finance edge; VTM wins on operational clarity per operation. |
| Control tower and dashboard | Available: control tower, alerts, events, OWL/Chart.js executive dashboard, KPIs and date range filters. | Can offer advanced analytics through SAP Analytics, GTS and extensions. | VTM delivers an executive view focused on trade operations without depending on a heavy BI architecture. |
| AIS vessel tracking | Available: AIS connector for MarineTraffic, VesselFinder and Datalastic, with positions and history linked to shipments. | Requires integration with external sources or connected logistics solutions. | VTM already includes the connector within the vertical's architecture. |
| AI and document OCR | Next phase: OCR for BLs/invoices/certificates, conversational assistant, ETA prediction and predictive risk. | SAP is advancing with AI capabilities within its ecosystem, but it depends on licensing, architecture and corporate adoption. | VTM can build contextual AI directly on its own operation files and trade documents. |
| Ideal profile | Free Zone companies, trading companies, importers, exporters, regional distributors and logistics operators that want control without SAP's complexity. | Multinationals or corporations with high volume, an enterprise budget, an in-house SAP team and global compliance requirements. | VTM doesn't replace SAP at giant corporations; it wins where SAP is too heavy, costly or slow. |

Frequently asked questions
What Panamanian importers ask.
Does it work for operating in the Colon Free Zone?
Yes. It includes free zone and warehouse modules: goods in and out, control by warehouse, re-export and the documentation required to operate in the Colon Free Zone, with the Panamanian localization included.
How are BLs, containers and shipments recorded?
Each shipment is recorded with its bill of lading, its containers and its documents. From there you control the shipment's status, the goods it carries and how it ties to purchases and in-transit inventory.
Does it calculate the real cost of an import?
Yes. Freight, insurance, taxes, customs and inland transport are allocated across the goods to get the real cost per product, not an approximate cost.
Does it integrate with DGI electronic invoicing?
Yes. Electronic invoicing with the DGI comes included in the operation, with the same documents and controls the rest of the platform uses.
How long does implementation take and where do you start?
You start with the operating core and the Panamanian localization, and then modules are activated according to the operation: shipments, free zone, compliance or connectors. The assessment defines what goes in first.
Do I need my own servers?
No. It's delivered as a service on VTM Cloud, without your company having to manage servers.
